ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT alum Jason Bateman is set to make his directorial debut with indie comedy BAD WORDS. The actor will also likely take the lead role in which ‘the bastard child of the organizer of the national spelling bee gets his revenge by finding a loophole and attempting to win the bee as an adult, only to find friendship in a young Indian contestant.’
The script was penned by Andrew Dodge and was included on the Black List 2011, which is a list of Hollywood’s ‘most liked’ unproduced screenplays. Bateman’s production company Aggregate Films will produce the project with Darko Entertainment, who are also financing the feature.
Bateman will next be seen in cinemas opposite BRIDESMAIDS star Melissa McCarthy in IDENTITY THIEF, and hopefully (please, please, please) will lead the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie in the near future…
