Robert De Niro is heading to the small screen, though will stary behind the camera, for a new CBS show entitled ROOKIES. De Niro will executive produce the series with crime writer Richard Price, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Price has worked on THE WIRE, wrote CLOCKERS, the film based on his novel of the same name, and also wrote RANSOM and THE COLOR OF MONEY. De Niro’s Tribeca partner Jane Rosenthal will also executive produce.
The show, according to the trade, is about a team of six freshman cops who are sent into high-crime trouble spots.
Excited? We are.
