Here’s some casting news that is so obvious that it will make you think you already knew it before reading this article. Timothée Chalamet has been cast as the title character in Warner Bros.’ planned Willy Wonka prequel, Wonka. The film is in development at the studio and will focus on the life of the famous factory owner before the events of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
Paul King (Paddington, Paddington 2‘) is directing the feature for WB from a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby. David Heyman and Luke Kelly will produce the film for the studio with the story reportedly not featuring the character of Charlie Bucket from the book. It is thought that the film will return a musical theme with Chalamet partaking in some singing of his own.
Chalamet will next be seen in Dune, which is also set up at the studio, which will release in cinemas towards the end of the year.
More as it comes in.
