Morgan Freeman Earns Coveted Lifetime Achievement Award

Although the ceremony for the 69th annual Golden Globe awards will not take place until January, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association have already announced that Freeman will receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement. Actress Amy Adams and writer/director Pedro Almodovar revealed the details during a press conference.

Freeman, whose acting career began with the minor role of ‘Man on Street’ in THE PAWNBROKER (1964), has starred in an array of diverse films during his lengthy career; from the enthralling DRIVING MISS DAISY to the epic DARK KNIGHT. He has also been nominated for dozens of awards over the years, and won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in MILLION DOLLAR BABY.

Previous winners of the Lifetime Achievement award, who are selected by the HFPA’s board of directors, include Alfred Hitchcock, Lucille Ball, Sidney Poitier, Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Barbra Streisand, Martin Scorsese, and Robert De Niro.

Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.
