They absolutely nailed it together on the magnificent Prisoners, and now actor Jake Gyllenhaal and director Denis Villeneuve will reunite for an adaptation of author Jo Nesbo‘s book The Son.
Here’s an idea of the story, as listed on Amazon, and on the book’s back cover.
Sonny is a model prisoner. He listens to the confessions of other inmates, and absolves them of their sins.
HE’S BEEN LIED TO HIS WHOLE LIFE
But then one prisoner’s confession changes everything. He knows something about Sonny’s disgraced father.
SONNY WANTS REVENGE
He needs to break out of prison and make those responsible pay for their crimes.
WHATEVER THE COST
We’re assuming that Gyllenhaal would play the role of Sonny, but the interesting casting will be that of Harry Hole, Nesbo’s frequent detective who has appeared in many of his novels over the years. Hole is described as being in his late forties, so we can think of many who could assume the coveted role.
Hole is a brilliant and driven detective with unorthodox methods, a classic loose cannon in the police force.
More news on this as we get it.
