Independence Day Resurgence TV Spot: Brent Spiner is front and centre in this new look at this summer’s highly anticipated sci-fi sequel.
A new Independence Day Resurgence TV spot has arrived online ahead of its big summer release, twenty years after Roland Emmerich‘s original quite literally exploded onto our cinema screens.
The new Independence Day Resurgence TV spot features an appearance by Brent Spiner‘s character Dr Brakish Okun, who returns to analyse the arrival of a new breed of extra-terrestrials intent on taking over our beautiful planet.
Here’s the plot.
We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Independence Day: Resurgence stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward, and will be in cinemas on June 24th, 2016 in hits domestic territories, with the U.K. getting the film a day earlier on the 23rd. Emmerich returns to direct the sequel. The original film’s producer Dean Devlin is also on-board, along with fellow producer Harald Kloser. Carter Blanchard wrote the screenplay for the film.
The new spot comes following a big trailer debut from earlier this year, and a Superbowl spot which landed in February. We’re actually quite looking forward to what Emmerich and his team have come up with in this anticipated follow-up.
