Sundance winner The Birth Of A Nation is set to roll out in cinemas across North America in October 2016. It looks like the film may be getting a major awards push considering the date that Fox are looking to get this into cinemas, and will the UK get the film at this year’s London Film Festival, which also runs in October?
Set against the antebellum South, The Birth Of A Nation follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.
The film, written and directed by Parker, also stars Penelope Ann Miller, Jackie Earle Haley, Mark Boone Jr., Colman Domingo, Aunjanue Ellis, Dwight Henry, Aja Naomi King, Esther Scott, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Gabrielle Union.
Its actual landing date will October 7th.
More as it comes in.
