I love a bit of Christmas; I have more Christmas sweaters than regular sweaters. I also love a mix of dark Christmas cheer when it comes to movies, with GREMLINS, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, and RARE EXPORTS being some of my favourites. So I am very happy that TRICK ‘R TREAT director Michael Dougherty follow-up film to his 2009 cult classic Halloween film, will be KRAMPUS. KRAMPUS sees a mischievous ghoul of European folklore being awoken by a young boy Max and his dysfunctional family. The Krampus soon sets about ruining Christmas in darkly comedic ways, as Cbristmas icons take on a life of their own.
Dougherty has also scripted such superhero hits as X2: X-MEN UNITED, and the upcoming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, but it’s great he’s back in the director’s chair. Meanwhile, it is Weta Workshop who will be bringing the Krampus to life, while Legendary (fast becoming my favourite studio with all their monster goodness) produces and brings along a stellar cast.
KRAMPUS has just begun principal photography, ready for its 4th December 2015 release date. Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, David Koechner, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Owen, and Krista Stadler all star.
