Our new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, isn’t only going to be travelling across space and time, as the BBC has announced he’s also due to start an full world tour to promote the new series.
With this plan, it seems the Beeb aren’t taking any chances with the transition from Matt Smith to Capaldi as they hit series eight and a new beginning. Our 12th Doctor will be joined by head-honcho Steven Moffat and co-star Jenna Coleman as they hit seven cities across five continents in twelve days. You know those 12 days are purposeful, right?
The extensive tour will begin over here in the UK on August 7th and end in Brazil on August 19th. They kick-off (of course) in Cardiff before heading across to London, followed by Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City and World Cup Final hosts Rio de Janeiro. It’ll be one hell of a task but undoubtedly the biggest tour so far.
It’ll also mark the true global status of Doctor Who, and my – hasn’t it grown quite amazingly? There are due to be more details of the tour very soon right here: www.doctorwho.tv/worldtour and we’ll bring you the latest as we hear it. Capaldi had this to say:
“After eight months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans.”
If by some unlucky stroke of bad, unlucky luck you haven’t seen the 15-second teaser for the new series and a little video for this tour, well then you can watch them now:
As we always do, we’ll bring you the latest Doctor Who news as we get it! Keep it THN for all Series 8 news here.
