That’s right, one of the worst comedy films to come out of the UK ever has finally one upped itself by producing a sequel… JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN.
Rowan Atkinson has returned to the role of Johnny English in what looks like some more of the same but with some Buddhist Monks chucked in. Here’s the official synopsis:
In the years since MI7’s top spy vanished off the grid, he has been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. But when his agency superiors learn of an attempt against the Chinese premier’s life, they must hunt down the highly unorthodox agent. Now that the world needs him once again, Johnny English is back in action.
With one shot at redemption, he must employ the latest in hi-tech gadgets to unravel a web of conspiracy that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7. With mere days until a heads of state conference, one man must use every trick in his playbook to protect us all. For Johnny English, disaster may be an option, but failure never is.
As well as Atkinson the film stars; Gillian Anderson (X-FILES), Dominic West (THE WIRE), Prierce Brosnan (THE GHOST) and a bunch of other people that obviously need the money. The one good thing that comes out of Working Title making films like JOHNNY ENGLISH and BEAN is it makes them a boat load of cash so they can make good films like A SERIOUS MAN and FROST/NIXON. The film is out October 7th 2012 and here’s the trailer.
Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
