Last week THN were lucky enough to be invited to the prestigious home of BAFTA for Christmas drinks. The evening gave Chief Executive Amanda Berry the opportunity to show what BAFTA have been up to over the last year and where the future is heading. Check out the video below:
When the word Bafta is mentioned most of us will only be able to think of the BAFTA film awards that happen in London in February. As well as these awards the company give awards for television, children’s and video games. Further to these awards the organisation does a great deal of charitable work.
The BAFTA charity aims to help those out there that have a passion for the arts but need help in achieving their dream. They do this via scholarships, and mentoring. Not everyone can be chosen for one of these excellent schemes, however all of us can access the free information provided on their website Bafta Guru.
Bafta Guru is a website that features videos and interviews with the top professionals within all aspects of the industry from writers to directors, composers to producers. All content for the site comes from the over 250 events held each year, with a variety of different seasons running through-out the year. In fact it wasn’t so long ago that THN attended a BAFTA organised event with the wonderful Dario Marianelli. Recent video’s also see names such as Emma Thompson, Pedro Almodvar and Peter Morgan give full of in depth advice and anecdotes about their own experiences within the industry. This site is a must for anyone remotely interested about a future within the media industry.
For more information please do check out Bafta Guru website and, if you’d like, don’t forget to mention THN during your BAFTA speech.
