We’ve recently brought a spoilerish clip from Spike Lee’s controversial remake of Chan-wook Park’s South Korean revenge thriller OLDBOY, featuring the first meeting between Josh Brolin’s Joe Doucett and Sharlto Copley’s unforgiving antagonist Adrian Pryce. Now we’ve another, this time introducing Michael Imperioli’s Chucky, an former close friend of Doucett before his mysterious 20 year incarceration.
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucett, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.
OLDBOY co-stars Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, Lance Reddick, James Ransone and opens in US cinemas on 27th November and the UK 6th December.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
