The trailer has been out for a while now but we thought it was an interesting, original looking thriller, despite its found footage nature for THE DIRTIES, it feels closer to reality than most. It’s backed by Kevin Smith’s ‘Movie Club‘ distribution company and horribly echoes Columbine and what happens when bullying pushes people too far.
When two best friends team up to film a comedy about getting revenge on bullies, the exercise takes a devastating turn when one of them begins to think of it as more than a joke.
Kevin Smith calls it ‘The most important film you’ll see all year‘ and we think it deserves a look and it already won Best Narrative Feature and the Spirit of Slamdance Award. It looks like an interesting balance of brave and scary, being that we know how easy it is to access weapons in the USA and yeah, we know it’s supposed to be a ‘right’ but I still believe that’s taken out of context. But before I drift off into the political, check out the trailer for Matthew Johnson’s THE DIRTIES:
THE DIRTIES is directed by Matthew Johnson with the screenplay by Johnson & Evan Morgan, starring Matthew Johnson & Owen Williams.
The film receives a limited US release today, so visit their official website or Facebook page for more info.
