Guillermo Del Toro and Benedict Cumberbatch went up the hill, to film a movie called CRIMSON PEAK. Cumberbatch fell down and left the project, at which point I gave up on this nonsense and announced that Tom Hiddleston has replaced him. Indeed, it must be hard to choose a great British actor these days, and also a huge kick to your production when a rising star leaves. But who better to replace Cumberbatch than Hiddleston? They’re both British, they’ve both played villains in huge franchises, they were both in WAR HORSE. They may even be the same person.
Hiddleston will now play Jessica Chastain’s aristocratic brother, in the secretive haunted house film. Del Toro delivered with his love letter to the Kaiju genre, PACIFIC RIM, so let’s hope he can do the same for haunted houses.
CRIMSON PEAK starts filming in January 2014 and will star Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam.
