Chris Hemsworth has been laying off the protein powder to slim down his god-like figure for upcoming F1 biopic RUSH. Directed by Ron Howard, the film retells the fabled rivalry between drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda for the 1976 championship. The THOR actor had to shed himself down to under 190 pounds to achieve the racer look, embarking on a rigorous cardio workout program and low fat diet. Talking with THR Hemsworth stated:
“I understood addiction for the first time, to be honest. I immediately knew what it is like to be truly at the mercy of something. Literally, food was the last thing I thought about before I went to bed and the first thing I thought about when I woke up.“
Hemsworth actually had to do a lot of driving in the shoot and he spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about handling the F1 beasts earlier this year:
”They are tricky things, like go-karts on steroids.”

RUSH hits cinemas on September 13th.
