Deadline are reporting that Bradley Cooper is all set to produce and potentially star in a biopic based on the life of cyclist Lance Armstrong. There are a number of Armstrong projects in the works, but Cooper is apparently on board the Jay Roach helmed movie in the works over at Warner Brothers.
The film is titled RED BLOODED AMERICA, and is written by Scott Z. Burns (CONTAGION), but Cooper isn;t actually said to be playing the role of Armstrong, but potentially Tyler Hamilton, his former teammate who spoke out against him as he was exposed in the famous drug scandal.
Stephen Frears is also directing an ‘Armstrong’ story, titled CYCLE OF LIES, which is set up over at Paramount. Looks like the race is on to get their respective projects into theatres first. It’s VOLCANO/ DANTE’S PEAK all over again…
