We had a number of LexCorp easter eggs throughout Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL, so it was expected Kal-El’s iconic criminal mastermind Lex Luther would feature strongly in a forthcoming sequel. However, with the surprise announcement of a Superman/Batman team-up, recent talk has now focused on who could be our next Caped Crusader. WATCHMEN’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan the latest name being touted and rumoured meeting with director Syder.

Previous to that nugget of news in San Diego, we brought you the speculative favourite for the bald billionaire industrialist being brilliant Brit Mark Strong. In a recent interview, Strong was asked about the rumours on the role and surprisingly not playing down or rebuffing the question, he commented with a short:

All I can say is… watch this space

I think that’s a strong indicator that the role is his. Screenwriter David Goyer is currently working the story alongside director Snyder with the likes of Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane expected to return.Warner Bros. is aiming for production to begin early next year with a summer 2015 release. Another name also in the running is BREAKING BAD’s Bryan Cranston, who has recently built a close relationship with the studio following roles in ARGO and GODZILLA.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
