THN have received the exciting news that, due to popular demand, a fourth date had been added for Gladiator Live and we’ve also received the big news that Lisa Gerrard, whose voice was such an integral part of the Oscar-winning soundtrack, will perform live at all four shows. The three previously released dates at the Royal Albert Hall, from Monday, May 26th to Wednesday, May 28th are now all sold out.
Ridley Scott’s GLADIATOR starring Russell Crowe, receives the live in concert treatment celebrating Scott’s sword and sandals epic and Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard’s sweeping score which is still as popular now as it was 13 years ago.

Fans both old and new of the Academy Award winning film, will experience the Philharmonia Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorus, conducted by Justin Freer, bring the dramatic score to life within the walls of the Royal Albert Hall, whilst the film is simultaneously shown in high definition on the big screen. Jasper Hope, Chief Operating Officer at the Royal Albert Hall, had this to say:
“What an incredible prospect to transport the arena of Ancient Rome’s Coliseum and the epic spectacle that is Gladiator to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall via an HD screening. Throw in one of the most popular movie soundtracks of all time performed live by 200 of London’s best musicians and even Commodus couldn’t fail but to give this a thumbs up”
Director Ridley Scott had this to add:
“We often forget that before sound and film were married on celluloid, we all watched movies with a live music soundtrack. To have the immediacy of a real orchestra as accomplished as the Philharmonia in the room offers an unparalleled dimension to the experience of watching Gladiator.
As with all the composers I’ve worked with, Hans’ music has played a very important role in my films and it’s a pleasure to see this element of the filmmaking process celebrated in this way.”
