Coming from Relativity Media, we have the first trailer, images and poster for Luc Besson’s upcoming crime comedy, THE FAMILY, which until recently was titled MALAVITA. Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer play head and spouse of a notorious mafia family, The Manzoni’s, who are forced into the witness protection programme in Normandy after turning ‘rat’. While they appear to have found a safe haven, the family struggles to leave their old lifestyle behind and begin to some draw unwanted attention.
THE FAMILY is based on the novel by Tonino Benacquista and could be classed as Besson’s first Hollywood movie since 1997s THE FIFTH ELEMENT. It co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, GLEE beauty Dianna Agron, David Belle, John D’Leo and a number of recognisable faces from THE SOPRANOS. THE FAMILY is also produced by Martin Scorcese and hits US cinemas from the 20th September, with it reaching the UK 8th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
