Home Alone & Harry Potter Director Chris Columbus Taking On ‘Pixels’

It was in 2011 (!) that we guessed, well, Sony Pictures predicted that the animated/live action short film by Patrick Jean would be heading towards a full film but since then many things have changed and directors fallen at the way side but finally, it seems that Chris Columbus is finally set to take on the challenge. The awesome internet short first appeared in 2010 and fired its way into the hearts and minds of Hollywood, who sensed something bigger.

It’s still owned by Happy Madison (Adam Sandler’s production company) and they’ll be backing it, but they’re still hoping for a GHOSTBUSTERS-feel to proceedings. Tim Herlihy of the WEDDING SINGER and HAPPY GILMORE fame wrote the original draft and that’s now been rewritten by Tim Dowling (ROLE MODELS) and with Columbus now on board, we might actually see something happening. The little film was pretty awesome and still looks good 3 years later, check it just below and stay tuned to THN for any eventual updates which – if the build-up is to go by – might be another few years yet.

Here it is in all its glory:
