Easily the best movie of 2011, Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling’s DRIVE will be forever etched into the conciseness of film fans as one of the Award ceremony’s overlooked classics. The two reunite for gritty crime flick ONLY GOD FORGIVES, a revenge thriller that sees Gosling play Julian, an ex-gangster/kickboxer, now living in Thailand after murdering a cop in his native US. However, when his brother is killed by a corrupt, Bangkok police officer (Vithaya Pansringaram), Julian’s ruthless crime boss mother (Kristen Scott Thomas) demands he avenge his brother’s death.
If you missed the first trailer you can find it here, in the meantime, check out the first official poster for the film set for US cinemas from the 19th July. No word yet on a UK date.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
