New ‘Dexter’ prequel series adds cast

The cast of the new Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, has been revealed. Patrick Gibson (Shadow and Bone) will play the titular role of Dexter Morgan; Golden Globewinner Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) will play Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father and homicide detective; and Molly Brown (Senior Year) will play Dexter’s younger sister, Debra Morgan. Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Nurse Jackie) will return as showrunner and executive producer.

Taking place 15 years before viewers first met Dexter in the hit run for ten episodes, the show will be brought to the screen by Showtime and Paramount+.

Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements’ radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

We’ll keep you updated on more developments as they come in.
