Filmmaker Jon M. Chu is reportedly set to direct a big-screen version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. The project is based on the classic musical that has been in theatres around the world since its debut on the stage in 1968.
The movie version of the hit musical, which is set around the character of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis, is set up over at Amazon Studios. The production has been filmed many times before, including a 1999 direct-to-video film starring Donny Osmond. Phillip Schofield and Jason Donovan are also among the famous names associated with the role over the years.
Chu is currently hard at work on the film version of Wicked, which is now shooting for a late 2024 release.
No idea when the ‘Joseph’ movie is planned for shooting, but we’re presuming it is a little way off. More at Deadline from where the story originated.
