Luca Guadagnino to receive International Icon Award at Sundance

Sundance has announced that Luca Guadagnino is to receive their International Icon Award at the festival next month. The honour regognises an international auteur who creates distinctive cinematic universes and has made a lasting impact on filmmaking, most notably through a commitment to storytelling and an unwavering creative vision.

Guadagnino’s latest work, Bones and All, is now playing in cinemas following a run on the festival circuit in late 2022.

The award will be presented to Guadagnino at Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance presented by IMDbPro on January 19 in Park City, Utah. The inaugural event will celebrate inspiring and breakout storytellers connected to Sundance, and will also raise funds for the Institute (proceeds will support artist programs, granting and other initiatives). Previously announced honorees of the evening include Ryan Coogler (Variety Visionary Award), W. Kamu Bell (Vanguard Award for Nonfiction), and Nikyatu Jusu (Vanguard Award for Fiction).
