As the world prepares for football fever ahead of this weekend’s World Cup in Qatar, another soccer doc has hit Prime Video today. A trailer for Kickback has also been released by Vertigo Releasing.
Co-directed by Clay Tweel and Maura Anderson, this incredibly timely film features unseen footage, in-depth interviews, and archival clips to present an interesting and fresh perspective on corruption within FIFA, international football’s sole governing body and the largest sports organisation in the world.
The film told through the lens of eccentric investigative journalist Andrew Jennings, who pounded the pavement for decades to uncover the crimes committed by FIFA’s top officials. Exposing everything from mob-like bribery, corruption, and embezzlement to global human rights issues, the late Jennings’ tireless crusade reveals an exploitation of power at the highest level – just in time for the long-awaited, yet highly controversial 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The film is now streaming on Prime.
