Best known for her Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids screenplay, Annie Mumolo has been mixing writing with acting, most recently sharing the lead – and writing credits – in Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar with Kristen Wiig.
But for her latest film, Confess, Fletch, she’s firmly in front of the camera, re-united with another Bridesmaids star, Jon Hamm. He’s the Fletch of the title, one-time journalist and now private investigator, caught up in a tangled plot involving expensive paintings and a dead body – and, when it comes to the murder, he’s the prime suspect.
Mumolo plays his neighbour, Eve, who unofficially keeps an eye on his apartment but isn’t exactly a safe pair of hands. In this exclusive interview, she talks about working with Hamm again and how close they came to laughing during their main scene. She also talks about her other main co-star, the dog Bertie who was “an amazing actress” and looks forward to her role in next year’s Murder Mystery 2 with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.
