The career of Terri Dwyer was launched when she joined Hollyoaks. The show was still in its infancy when Dwyer signed up to play Ruth Osborne. Even decades after her character departed the series, Dwyer is still affectionately remembered as Ruth by many. Although still happy to act during the pandemic, Dwyer decided to transition behind the camera and launched her own production company, Buffalo Dragon. Launching a new film company in the midst of a global pandemic might not seem the smartest of plans, especially given the state of the film industry at the time. For Dwyer though, the venture appears to have taken off with Signature Entertainment snapping up her first venture, The Stranger in Our Bed.
An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Samantha Lee Howe and directed by Giles Alderson (The Dare), The Stranger in our Bed is a tightly wound relationship thriller. Feeling trapped in her controlling marriage to her wealthy husband Tom (Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Industry, Sanditon), Charlotte Carlisle (Emily Berrington, Humans) begins an affair with another man, who one day mysteriously disappears without a trace. Behind her husband’s back, she secretly begins an investigation into the disappearance, teaming up with her lover’s sister, Becki (Terri Dwyer, Hollyoaks), to uncover the truth behind what happened. It quickly becomes clear that nothing is at it seems, and after becoming witnesses to a murder, the two become entangled in a dark and twisted game of cat-and-mouse. With her life on the line, Charlotte must uncover what’s really going on – before it’s too late.
The perfect film to settle down with at the end of a busy week The Stranger in our Bed is out now on digital platforms. To coincide with the release, THN spoke with Dwyer to find out more about the film and her new business.
Signature Entertainment presents The Stranger in our Bed on Digital Platforms 5th September.
