‘Extraction 2’ reportedly set to be very different from the original Netflix smash

The second Extraction movie is reportedly set to be very different from the 2020 original, which broke records on Netflix during the pandemic. Chris Hemsworth returns to the role of Tyler Rake for the new one, which has wrapped shooting and is currently in post.

The first film revolves around Rake who is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord

Speaking with Collider, the film’s producers Anthony and Joe Russo spoke with the outlet whilst out and about on the press tour for their new movie, The Gray Man, reported to be Netflix’s most expensive original film ever.

“It’s great. It’s very different from ‘Extraction 1’, which we like. It’s its own movie in that regard. It has a different color schematic,” Joe Russo said of the film, which he also wrote the screenplay for.

“It’s set in a different part of the world. It has a different pace, a different tone than the first one. And that, to us, is an interesting way to approach serializing a story, is that it’s more surprising and unexpected, and you’re not going to get the exact same movie that you got the last time out. So we’re really excited about it, and we think it was beautifully shot. Hemsworth’s fantastic in it. And we’re excited to share it with audiences.”

Sam Hargrave returns to direct the film. We are yet to hear as to when to expect ‘Extraction 2’ on the streamer, or indeed when we’ll get a debut trailer.

We’ll keep you posted.
