A remake of The Raid is in the works. While this isn’t new news, what is new is that it could be headed for Netflix as a new package and talent behind the scenes, so reports trade paper Deadline. Michael Bay and XYZ Films are set to produce the action film, based on the superb film of the same name which was directed by Gareth Evans.
Patrick Hughes, he who helmed the likes of The Expendables 3, The Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard will direct the new Engligh language version, which is now in active development.
Deadline says that the new film “is set in Philadelphia’s drug-infested “Badlands,” where an elite undercover DEA task force climbs a ladder of cartel informants to catch an elusive kingpin.”
Hughes wrote the screenplay for the film with James Beaufort. Evans is also involved with an executive producer credit.
Hard to believe that ten years have gone by since the original movie, arguably one of the best action movies of the century so far.
Let’s home this remake equals the high-octane carnage of the Evans original,
More as it comes in.
