It was reported lat on Friday – post knocking-off time for us here on the site – but it has been confirmed that Pixar’s next film Turning Red is heading direct to Disney+. We say this not as a negative thing as more people will have the chance to see it come release day in March, but sadly we won’t be able to see the movie on the big screen.
Turning Red, which revolves around a teenager who changes into a red panda when she’s excited, will debut on Disney+ to all subscribers from 11th March
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!
So excited to see this as the film comes to the screen from director Domee Shi who made the excellent Pixar short “Bao”.
Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) Those territories that don’t have Disney+ will be still able to see the film theatrically, according to reports. Dates for the debut will in those areas will be announced shortly.
