While this does share its title with one of ’80s pop sensations Wham!, sadly this hasn’t anything to do with George Michael or Andrew Ridgeley. Instead, I’m Your Man is one of the best films we’ve seen all year. After premiering at the Berlinale back in March, the German-language comedy-drama lands on UK screens in August, and we have the brand new trailer for you to feast your eyes upon.
Marren Eggert and Dan Stevens lead the cast of this highly original feature which comes to the screen from director Maria Schrader.
Alma (Eggert) is a scientist at the famous Pergamon Museum in Berlin. In order to obtain research funds for her work, she is persuaded to participate in an extraordinary study. For three weeks, she has to live with a humanoid robot tailored to her character and needs, whose artificial intelligence is designed to be the perfect life partner for her. Alma meets Tom (Stevens), a machine in human form in a class of its own, created solely to make her happy.
Eggert won the prestigious Silver Bear Award for her leading performance in the movie, and rightly so – she’s brilliant. Stevens also delivers an equally flooring performance, his character of Tom speaking in German throughout (Stevens is multilingual).
