Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation helmer McG is set to direct the pilot episode of Turner & Hooch for Disney+. The news was reported by Deadline who say that the filmmaker, who most recently directed The Babysitter movies over on Netflix, will also serve as executive producer on the project, which is now in production.
The original movie saw Tom Hanks lead the cast as a police detective who unwillingly teams up with a big dog who may become the partner he never knew he needed. Josh Peck leads the cast of the new reboot as the new Scott Turner – reimagined as a U.S. marshal for the reboot – alongside Carra Patterson, Brandon Jay McLaren, Anthony Ruivivar, Lyndsy Fonseca, Jeremy Maguire and Vanessa Lengies.
Matt Nix, who is the man behind the likes of Burn Notice and The Gifted, is writing and also executive producing for the streamer and the first season is set to include twelve hour-long episodes. Production, as we said, is now underway.
As a reminder, here’s the original, glorious trailer for the original Turner & Hooch which is now available to watch on Disney+.
