The Best Casino Settings In Film

From Star Wars to Swingers.

Hollywood filmmakers love taking advantage of certain settings time and time again. Glamourous locations helps set the mood for the the movie and nothing quite matches the glitz and glamour of a casino. Furthermore, it gives viewers something they can connect with. Over the years, Hollywood movies have constantly featured casinos as key settings. You’ve likely watched several Hollywood films that have shown off the bright lights of Las Vegas, so you may be interested in finding out more about some of the most recent movies to be set in and around the casino. Here are five of them. All of these films are available to view across the various streaming services and on physical home media.

The Last Jedi

Would you ever imagine that Star Wars would feature a casino as a setting? It has. You likely remember the scenes featuring Canto Bight. The coastal city is clearly a popular destination for wealthy people. Furthermore, it is overflowing with racetracks and casinos. During the film, Finn and Rose Tico travel to this town. The casino design in the film was reportedly inspired by the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, and it is important to remember that some of the movie’s scenes were filmed in that city in March of 2016.

Either way, this is one of the coolest casino settings in any movie. The fact it is a Star Wars movie makes it even cooler.

Logan

While many were sceptical, Logan proved to be a smash hit. Hugh Jackman knocked it out of the park as Wolverine. The movie was intense and unforgettable. While it had many awesome scenes, many will agree that the best scene was the one featuring the casino. While people are sitting around and playing ceme online, Professor X has another attack. The attack is devastating but there are two survivors and, spoiler alert, the two people who survive are Logan and his young friend.

Casino Royale

It is impossible not to mention Casino Royale when you look at the 24, soon to be 25 Bond movies. After all, it does have the word casino in the title. Many will agree that this is one of the best Bond films featuring Daniel Craig, while others would side with the later Skyfall. Either way, Casino Royale is bound to be a future classic. The film features gambling material from start to finish, and the scene at the famous Montecito where Bond is nearly killed whilst enjoying a game of Texas Hold ‘Em really added to the intensity of the movie. This is an excellent debut as the iconic 007 for Craig and it features one of the best gambling scenes ever captured on film.

Swingers

Finally, you have Swingers. This 1996 comedy became a classic after a few years and stars Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. The two actors play unemployed guys who want to be actors. They decide to travel to Las Vegas so they can try winning money in Sin City, and when they arrive, they quickly realize that they’re out of place. They’re dressed in suits while being surrounded by seniors and motorcycle owners and, when they believe they’re going to dominate the blackjack table, they’re mistaken.

The duo quickly realize that they’re playing against excellent players and they lose money and ultimately walk away embarrassed. This movie is a bit different than the others but it still one of the most memorable films with a casino setting from the past couple of decades.
