Cast announced for ‘Ire’; Craig Fairbrass, Stephen Odubola, and Jason Flemyng lead

Shooting kicks off this week.

Craig Fairbrass, Stephen Odubola, and Jason Flemyng will lead the cast of Ire, Ross McCall’s directorial debut which is about to kick off filming. The film is the second feature from Ascendant Films and Burton Fox Films, following Stephen Graham-led drama Boiling Point, a single-take drama shot in two days just before lockdown back in March.

Ire is made in association with Bromantics and will see Fairbrass play the role of Steve, a prison inmate serving life for a double murder. Samahoma Media Advisors also announced today that it has negotiated financing for Ire, one two new British feature films from Insight Media Fund. Having provided completion money for Boiling Point, it has now signed off a deal allowing Ascendant Films and Burton Fox Films to collaborate again, on this, their first post-lockdown feature. Additional financing will be provided by Ascendant Films.

Ulrich Thomsen, Rosie Sheehy, Robin Laing, Philip Barantini, Michael Lindall,, Lloyd Everitt, Thomas Dominique, Morgan Watkins , Roger Suubi, Graham Kitchen, Hector Bateman-Harden , Hamza Siddique, and Uche Gabriel Akujobi are also amongst the cast of Ire, which kicks off filming on 19th September.

Ire tells the prison life of an institutionalised and violent criminal (Craig Fairbrass). Incarcerated for murdering his wife, his life gets disrupted when his estranged daughter requests to meet her father for the first time and a 19 year old (Stephen Odubola) serving his first sentence in a maximum security prison, is placed inside as his cell mate. We follow, as an incarcerated lifer navigates his struggle against redemption and his inner turmoil.

The film is the directorial debut of actor Ross McCall who also wrote the script. Producers on the film are Bart Ruspoli (Ascendant Films), Hester Ruoff (Burton Fox Films), and Stefan D’Bart (Bromantics).

The majority of filming is to take place in London. More as it comes in.
