Shudder seems to be on a roll when it comes to new content at the moment. Not content with dropping a ton of new and exciting genre films on to the platform this July, it appears that the team are also lining up some excellent content for August. The first such title is Random Acts of Violence, a film that is being directed by everyone’s favourite dragon-trainer, Jay Baruchel.
Known primarily for his work as an actor, Baruchel has been slowly crafting a career behind the camera over the last several years. His debut feature was Goon: Last of the Enforcers, a sequel to Goon. In the very near future though he’ll be bringing his follow-up Random Acts of Violence to the masses. The film, in which Baruchel also stars, sees two comic book writers whom find themselves at the mercy of a serial killer carving up victims just like in their stories. It’s based on the popular 2010 horror graphic novel of the same name and has cult-hit-of-the-future written all over it. Check out the trailer in its entirety now:
The trailer points to a film in the vein of the likes of Satanic Panic and 68 Kill, and we are so here for that. Check out the full synopsis and poster below:
Synopsis: What are the real consequences when life begins to imitate art? Comic book creator Todd Walkley (Jesse Williams), his wife Kathy (Jordana Brewster), assistant Aurora (Niamh Wilson) and best friend, Hard Calibre Comics owner Ezra (Baruchel), embark upon a road trip from Toronto to New York Comic Con and bad things start to happen. People start getting killed.
It soon becomes clear that a crazed fan is using Todd’s “SLASHERMAN” comic as inspiration for the killings and as the bodies pile up, and Todd’s friends and family become victims themselves, Todd will be forced to take artistic responsibility.
Random Acts of Violence arrives in the UK on Shudder from 20th August 2020.
