The very first trailer for Aretha Franklin biopic Respect has landed online courtesy of the folks over at Universal Pictures. The highly anticipated new movie is set for cinemas in the new year and stars Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson as the late, iconic singer.
Also amongst the impressive cast of the movie is Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.
