Antonio Banderas has joined the cast of the ‘Uncharted’ movie

According to the trade papers, recent Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas has been cast alongside Tom Holland in the planned adaptation of the hit video game Uncharted. Variety reports that both Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle have also joined the cast of the movie in unknown roles.

Holland is all set to play the lead role in the movie as treasure hunter Nathan Drake, while Mark Wahlberg is also amongst the cast as Victor Sullivan.

Banderas is also cast in an as yet unknown part.

Banderas scored a huge hit with Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival – the film which bagged him that Oscar nomination – and will next be seen in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

Ruben Fleischer is directing the Uncharted movie for Sony Pictures. His last couple of credits include Venom and Zombieland 2: Double Tap, which is about to be released on the home formats.

The ‘Uncharted’ video games are hugely popular with the first game landing in stores all of the way back in 2007. The last edition of the game, ‘Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’ hit ten years later.

The film version has been in the works for quite some time and the planned Fleischer version, scripted by Joe Carnahan and Rafe Judkins apparently set to be a prequel story.
