TV shows can hardly be called TV shows by now. Mostly we watch them on the Internet via our gadgets. But it doesn’t change the fact that this is still the most popular leisure activity for students all over the world.
Sometimes we all feel that we just don’t have time for relaxing and watching some good shows. The study process (especially if we fail to keep our work-life balance) can cause such fatigue that all we want is to fall flat and sleep. Still, psychologists claim that people need several hours (not one or two, but at least twice more!) of personal time to keep their best performance.
One may try to organize their time by incorporating a strict schedule or using some aids for homework tasks, such as essay writing sites like https://paperap.com/essays/, but this is a topic of another article. Let’s look through the most popular shows of 2020 that you can see in your free time after study!
The New Pope

If you loved The Young Pope series, you would definitely love this series by HBO! The second scandalous season by Paolo Sorrentino is a sequel, where the previous character – Pope Pius XIII, portrayed by Jude Law, falls into a borderline coma and a new replacement (equally young and ambiguous in the role of Pope) is promptly found. Sir John Brannox (played by John Malkovich) is ready to wreak havoc in the Vatican…
Spoiler: Jude Law will still be seen not only on his hospital bed.
Star Trek: Picard
A long-awaited release for the fans of sci-fi in general and Star Trek franchise in particular. Jean-Luc Picard was (and is!) one of the most admirable characters of all the Star Trek world, and he surely deserves a separate spinoff. Moreover, he is once again played by Patrick Stewart, along with some other characters from The Next Generation. It’s great to see the familiar faces again, and we are sure that the new series will keep the overall high-quality level of all the Star Trek products.
Interrogation
It’s not a casual criminal drama; no blood spilled on the walls, no clues, no psychos in jail. Interrogation is a perfectly pure game of the mind, dedicated to… well… an interrogation. More specifically, THE interrogation of a young man accused of matricide and claiming he’s innocent. If you enjoyed the tension of 12 Angry Men, this is the perfect choice for you. There is no linear storyline, each part is a separate clue, evidence, or narrative, so the viewers are welcomed to cooperate with the police and create their own version of the whole picture.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
These two didn’t get enough screen time until this great show by Marvel. The star cast (Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie) and a decent budget hint that it will be more like one of the Marvel movies. The whole plot is yet unknown, so we can only guess if it will be the adaptation of comics, a completely new storyline, or a mix of both. Nevertheless, Marvel lovers will have a lot of a great time watching this.
The Mandalorian, season 2
Okay, after some very, very ambiguous movies, Disney has produced a series that managed to win the audience’s hearts (don’t think about Baby Yoda, that’s not Yoda you’re looking for!). We need to wait almost a whole year, but the second season of The Mandalorian is expected to be as enjoyable as the first one. Finally, the race of proud warriors gets their credit (in a way) after the Clone Wars.
The Last Man

If you enjoyed I Am Legend with Will Smith and wanted the movie to be just a bit more descriptive about the character’s everyday life, try watching The Last Man. The show was in Development Hell for a long time, but it seems to climb out of there right to our screens finally. After several replacements of showrunners, we will finally see what can happen in the world where only one person is left.
The Plot Against America
The lovers of alternative history will appreciate this movie with its dystopian plotlines. In the world of the series, Charles Lindbergh is an elected president, who approves Anti-Semitism, and the land of freedom gradually turns into the land of terror, segregation, and racism. This bleak future, however, still offers some hope for changes. The Plot Against America is a dark and edgy story; basically, Watchmen meets V for Vendetta.
This isn’t even the beginning of a whole laundry list of series presented to us by showrunners in 2020. There are lots of detective stories, semi-reality shows, paranormal, and sci-fi series. The only thing that 2020 really lacks is, possibly, a good fantasy series (whether The Witcher can be considered a truly good fantasy series is still an unanswered question). We’re glad to see that lots of sci-fi franchises return after a long hibernation and are going to show us something new and interesting.
In general, the 2020 series are definitely worth subscribing to. Maybe, there are few as gorgeous as Game of Thrones, but still, there are dozens of decent ones that deserve to be seen. We can also expect some really great trailers of freshly announced series (the rumors are spreading about The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars: The Old Republic series that are already in development).
Let’s see what else the year 2020 will bring us!
