One of the films that, in my opinion, was one of the most underrated from last year was the Venom movie. I didn’t mind it at all – I really quite enjoyed it actually and can’t see why it was hated on so much. Well, the film did moderately well at the box-office despite some sniffy reviews from some critics, taking in well over $800 million around the world from a reported $100 million budget. So now, it seems, that a sequel is on the way from Sony Pictures.
In an interview with Fandango, producer Any Pascal has reportedly confirmed that Tom Hardy will return to the character for a sequel set for release in 2020.
Pascal told the site: “I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can…Sony did a great job creating that franchise and giving it a life and giving it its own world. Then there’s Tom Hardy. When you think of Venom, you’ll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that’s all you needed to know.”

That’s obviously great news for fans of the series, and we can only presume that he will be joined by Woody Harrelson whose character of Cletus Kasady (aka Carnage) was teased right at the end of the first movie.
Venom official synopsis: The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom!
