I missed this one at the cinema (and at countless film festivals) but I’ve just received word from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment about the home release for Wild Rose. The film will be available on Digital Download on August 5th.
If you don’t know about the project, here’s the official synopsis.
Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley), is bursting with raw talent, charisma, and cheek. Fresh out of jail and with two young kids, all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and make it as a country singer in Nashville. Her mum Marion (Julie Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn’s Nashville nonsense. Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house (Sophie Okonedo).

Directed by BAFTA nominee Tom Harper (The Scouting Book For Boys), produced by BAFTA nominee Faye Ward (Stan & Ollie) and written by BAFTA award-winning writer Nicole Taylor (The C Word), Wild Rose is an uplifting story with an original soundtrack about family, dreams and reality, and three chords and the truth.
The only extras we’ve heard about are for the DVD release, which will include interviews with the cast and crew. The street date for that has been set for 19th August.
