Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is regarded as being one of the most anticipated movies to be released next year. The film stars Margot Robbie, playing the title role of Harley, and tells the tale of a newly liberated Harley Quinn, and her life apart from the Joker (played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad).
The Cast
Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays the ‘Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays the part of Black Canary and Rosie Perez plays Renee Montoya. As a result it would appear the girl cast have formed a sort of girl gang in the movie and Margot Robbie is the leader of a new kind of squad.
Ewan McGregor plays the villain known as Black Mask. Shooting for the film began in January and has been much anticipated following the news of its release in the early months of 2020. It has already wrapped shooting, as confirmed by Robbie in a recent post on her Instagram account.
The Director
The movie has some talented directors. Cathy Yan is directing the movie while the script has been written by Christina Hodson, otherwise known as Bumblebee. With the unique cast and brilliant storyline, it is expected this movie will be a larger hit than Suicide Squad.
The Writers
Expertly written by Christina Hodson, there have been additional writers to fill in the script. Famous names include Chuck Dixon, Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Greg Land.
The Storyline
The movie follows the story of Harley who recently separated from the crazed Joker only to join a group of unconventionally heroic women. The group aims to rescue a young woman from an evil and terroristic crime lord.
While that may be all we know about the script, we also know there is less than a month before the movie turns into an international hit and adds fame to the upcoming actresses repertoire of movie hits.
The Studio
The studio behind the movie is Warner Brothers, so there won’t be any cash loans needed to fund this movie. All of DC’s recent movies were financed by WB, including Suicide Squad which marked the most recent appearance of Harley Quinn.
About Margot Robbie
The young actress has staked her claim to fame by acting alongside famous actors naming Will Smith (Focus) and Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf Of Wall Street).
She is not only an actress but she is also a film producer who has been named as Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. She has also made it onto Forbes’ 30 under 30 list, received nominations for an Academy Award and has been nominated for three BAFTA Awards.
Robbie has an even more promising future ahead her, including a role in the forthcoming Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
Robbie also has an upcoming movie called Promising Young Women, but when that will be released has yet to be announced.
