Andy Gatenby Joins The Cast Of ‘Krays’ Movie Sequel

Emerging star Andy Gatenby has joined the cast of Hereford Films’ highly anticipated true crime film The Krays: Marked For Death. He will play the twins’ business advisor Leslie Payne. Payne was one of the key witnesses in the Krays’ trial in 1969 and gave evidence against them after Ronnie Krays paid Jack ‘The Hat’ McVitie to murder him at his home two years earlier.

Andy Gatenby is a retired professional boxer, leaving the pain game unbeaten in all six contests. Despite rising through the ranks and earning a shot at the English title, Gats had to end his boxing career prematurely due to injury. A competitive and physical person, Andy started to compete in tough mudders and endurance races leading him to enter the hit BBC2 show Ultimate Hell Week. Gatenby made it all the way to the final and, according to presenter Andrew Flintoff MBE, Gatenby made the whole show.

Gatenby said “I’m very excited to be a part of The Krays – Marked For Death. It’s been a long road to get to where I am now and I’m going to grab the opportunity with both hands and smash it out of the park. I’ve been following Hereford films for along time and been telling people around me for years, I’m going to be in their films soon, and now I am. I Couldn’t be happier.”

Hereford Films CEO Jonathan Sothcott said, “We have been tracking Andy’s career for some time and he is a talented, charismatic screen presence and a terrific actor. He’s a brilliant addition to our Krays sequel.”

The Krays – Marked For Death follows the phenomenal success of Hereford’s The Krays – Dead Man Walking and continues the story of the notorious twins as they cross swords with boxer Freddie Mills, suspected of being notorious serial killer ‘Jack The Stripper.”

Filming is due to commence this spring with further casting announcements accepted imminently.
