It’s finally here – the trailer for 20th Century Fox’s next installment in the early X-Men franchise, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which will arrive in cinemas in 2019. This is a lot different – in a positive way – to what I was expecting, and I’m liking what I am seeing. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Jessica Chastain are amongst the cast of the film, which is directed by Simon Kinberg. X-Men Dark Phoenix trailer
X-Men: Dark Phoenix continues the story that began with X-Men: First Class, and then continued with X-Men: Days Of Future Past and then X-Men: Apocalypse. It lands in February.
In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiralling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
The X-Men Dark Phoenix trailer also lands with the very first look at the poster for the film, which you can also see below. It is the first X-Men movie since ‘Apocalypse’ in 2016, and launches at the same time of year as box-office juggernauts Deadpool and Logan. Expect positive things.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix arrives in cinemas around the world next February.
