Aretha Franklin has reportedly picked Jennifer Hudson to play he in a new biopic. The news comes via Deadline who report that the actress, currently judging ‘The Voice’ in the UK, will play the music legend in the planned movie, thought to be housed over at MGM.

The news actually came from Clive Davis’ legendary pre-Grammys party over the weekend, which saw Barry Manilow, Luis Fonsi, Ben Platt, Alicia Keys, Khalid, Logic and Hudson herself perform. Hudson belted out some of Franklin’s biggest hits, including the classics Think, and Respect.

The new movie will be produced by Straight Outta Compton‘s Scott Bernstein and music producer Harvey Mason Jr., who has worked with Franklin and also produced music for the film Dreamgirls, on which Hudson won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, so reports the trade blog.
