Meryl Streep Joins ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2

Meryl Streep has joined the cast of the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies. The first season of the drama has been a huge hit with fans and critics alike and has featured heavily on this year’s awards circuit, the most recent recommendations coming for its cast at this past weekend’s Screen Actors Guild awards.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Streep will play Mary Louise Wright, the mother to the abusive Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard) in the second season, which will kick off shooting very soon.

Mary Louise Wright is described as a woman who is concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son Perry’s death. She arrives in Monterey searching for answers.

Streep joins Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the hit David E. Kelley drama, which is based on the Liane Moriarty novel.

Big Little Lies is broadcast on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
