Last night, the 75th annual Golden Globes took place in Beverly Hills. The awards, which honour both television and film, were hosted by Seth Meyers, and took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The big winners on the night were the ensemble drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which took the best motion picture (drama) award – the film opens in the UK this Friday, and Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut Lady Bird, which took the best motion picture (comedy or musical) gong. In the acting categories Gary Oldman took best actor (drama) for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, while Frances McDormand won best actress (drama) for her outstanding performance in Three Billboards. In the comedy or musical categories of the same award, James Franco won for his portrayal of Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, while Saoirse Ronan was awarded best actress for Lady Bird. The best director award went to Guillermo del Toro for The Shape Of Water.
The big winner in the television categories was HBO series Big Little Lies, which picked up no less than four awards.
