Gambit movie set to shoot this March

The Gambit movie has been in development over at 20th Century Fox for quite some time and has had a variety of filmmakers attached to direct, including Edge Of Tomorrow and American Made helmer Doug Liman. Gore Verbinski was attached to the project at the tail end of 2017, and is set to get things rolling in just two months time for a potential release on Valentine’s Day 2019. That date is a very popular one, particularly with Fox who have had huge success with comic-book fare in the last couple of years, in 2017 with Logan and the year before with the break-out R-rated success of Deadpool. Obviously to meet that date with such an effects-heavy piece, they must get cracking very soon, hence the planned March shoot date.

The Gambit movie shoot is expected to take place largely in New Orleans, Louisiana, with 70 days planned for production. That takes it up until the summer with many months of post-production to follow. The report about the shoot dates state that budget details were unavailable, although the film’s original 2015 filing with the Louisiana state film office indicated at the time that it was operating with a $155 million budget.

Gambit, real name Remy Etienne LeBeau, was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee. Drawn by artist Mike Collins, Gambit made his first appearances in Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 (July 1990) and Uncanny X-Men #266 (August 1990).

Starring alongside Tatum in the Gambit movie is Masters Of Sex star Lizzy Caplan.
