Kate Winslet Joins The Cast Of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Kate Winslet will reunite with her Titanic director James Cameron for the Avatar sequels, which are now in-production.

“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron told trade blog Deadline. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

There’s no explanation as to who Ronal is, or how many of the films she will appear in.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald and Sigourney Weaver are returning for the sequels to the 2009 movie, which still remains the highest grossing film of all time at the worldwide box-office. Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin are also amongst the cast, whilst Stephen Lang will return as Colonel Miles Quaritch as the movies’ main villain.

Avatar 2 will debut in cinemas on December 18, 2020, while Avatar 3 will land on December 17, 2021. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 will be released on December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025.

Kate Winslet will next be seen in The Mountain Between Us, which opens in the UK and the US this coming weekend.
