Luc Besson Reveals That The ‘Lucy 2’ Screenplay Is Done

Valerian and Leon director has revealed that the screenplay for a sequel to one of his biggest more recent releases, Lucy. The 2014 action movie made over $460 million from a $40 million budget – a massive hit for the filmmaker.

The plot of the original movie revolved around a carefree student named Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) is abducted by thugs who intend to turn her into a drug mule. She is surgically implanted with a package containing a powerful chemical, but it leaks into her system, giving her superhuman abilities, including telekinesis and telepathy. With her former captors in pursuit, Lucy seeks out a neurologist (Morgan Freeman), who she hopes will be able to help her.

Min-sik Choi, Amr Waked, Pilou Asbaek and Analeigh Tipton also starred in the movie.

There’s no news on timelines for the sequel to Lucy coming to screens, but the word on the street is that Besson will helm another movie first. No news at this time as to what that will be, but we hear that it will be another female-driven action film.
