Game of Thrones season seven is slowly approaching like an army of White Walkers towards the looming Wall, and while the show is notoriously secretive, there are a few things we already know about the upcoming season.

Season 7 Is Still Months Away

Unfortunately, while season seven has been confirmed it is still months away, with a premiere date of July 16. So, if you wish to wait for all the shocks and shenanigans that will be littered throughout this next season, be warned that spoilers may follow.

Fortunately for those of you who don’t want any character reveals or plot points spoiled, there are plenty of other ways to kill time before the season starts. You could read the books, rewatch the first six seasons or take a look at some of the amazing fan fiction that has been published over the last few years.

There’s a Game of Thrones video game, published by Telltale Games, while there’s also a slot game based on the series, developed by Microgaming. As online comparison site CasinoUK.com points out, the studio is renowned for creating mobile-optimized titles, with many operators who host the game also offering free spins and welcome bonuses to players.

There are plenty of ways you can get your Game of Thrones fix, so you absolutely don’t need to read the spoilers if you don’t want to. However, for those of you who have stuck around, let’s get cracking:

New & Returning Characters

As we’re sure you know, season seven is the penultimate installment and will consist of just seven episodes instead of the regular ten that we’ve been treated to in past seasons.

Of the seven episodes, Jim Broadbent will feature in five, as we are introduced to Sam Tarly’s new accomplice Maester Marwyn of the Citadel. While he is yet to appear in the show, book readers are sure to remember him as a well-travelled fellow with a keen interest in dragons. However, as Broadbent was seen shooting scenes in Belfast, it is unlikely he will get to meet Daenerys Targaryen or her dragons any time soon.

As for returning characters, Tycho Nestoris of the Iron Bank will be making a comeback after disappearing entirely from season six. As Nestoris will be in King’s Landing during the two episodes he’s said to star in, there’s a good chance he’ll cause quite a lot of trouble for Cersei.

Arya’s mate Gendry Waters will also return having managed to get out of that rowboat he was seen in back in season three. As Waters has Baratheon blood flowing in his veins, he could very well give Cersei, Jon and Danaerys a run for their money. That, or he might just be besties with Arya again. Hopefully, he’ll have Arya’s direwolf Nymeria with him too.

Meetings

Here’s where things get interesting. Over at Dragonstone, Jon and Daenerys have been spotted together, which hopefully means we’ll get to see the most anticipated aunt and nephew reunion of all time. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, there are rumors that these two will be meeting up with a further 15 other characters in what is sure to be the biggest scene in Game of Thrones history. Characters at this meeting include:

  • Jon Snow
  • Daenerys Targaryen
  • Cersei Lannister
  • Jamie Lannister
  • Tyrion Lannister
  • Missandei
  • Jorah
  • Bronn
  • Davos
  • Varys
  • Theon Greyjoy
  • Euron Greyjoy
  • Qyburn
  • Podrick
  • Brienne
  • Sandor “The Hound” Clegane
  • Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane

Arya and Sansa are also to be reunited, while their brother Bran will apparently return to Winterfell by episode three.

Battles

Arguably, the most interesting plot leak about season seven so far is that the Wall will finally fall. This implies that Jon will have to face The Night King, who is also said to kill one of Daenerys’ beloved dragons, Viserion, before turning him into a White Walker zombie ice dragon. Meanwhile, the Lannisters will attack Highgarden, home of the Tyrells, shortly before Cersei comes face-to-face with Jon.

Unfortunately, that’s all we have right now. Game of Thrones season seven will premiere on July 16, and needless to say, we cannot wait.
